The Earthsea saga, by Ursula K. Le Guin, is a collection of fantasy books I particularly enjoyed.
It talks about a world of magical creatures that live together in harmony. Some humans have the power to cast magic spells and control nature. The most gifted and powerful ones gather on the island of Roke, where the Archmage and the strongest warlocks of Earthsea teach magic to the youngsters.
The saga is divided into 5 parts which narrate the main story, plus a sixth telling the legends of Earthsea. Each part is about 200 pages long, so one could start the saga without having the pressure of finishing an extremely long and complex story.
The story is astounding: it blends catchy adventures in a magical environment inhabited by magical creatures, like dragons, with peaceful moments and everyday situations.
What I also really liked about it was the meticulous attention of the author towards the description of complex traditions and idioms that appeared in the books.
To sum up, I warmly recommend this saga to everyone who would like to take a break from reality and enjoy a breath-taking adventure in the realms of Earthsea.
